Guided walks / Walking safaris
Guided walks or walking safaris are offered in many the forested parks and wildlife  reserves  and a number of forest reserves through out Uganda. These enable wildlife viewing at very close but safe proximity. However, the possibilities of encountering animal charges are very real but under the guidance of a game ranger, real danger is avoided by observing appropriate behaviour when in the presence of wildlife or beating a hasty retreat. The most popular are Gorilla and Chimpanzee tracking at Bwindi, Mgahinga and Kibale National Parks and Budongo Forest Reserves respectively.
At Bwindi, these can be tracked at from two locations; Buhoma Nkuringo while at Kibale, Chimpanzees can be tracked from the Kanyanchu River Camp, 30km south of Fort Portal. However, Lake Mburo is the only park with savannah habitat where guided walks with an armed ranger can be under taken and the wildlife drive dispensed with. At the beautiful Kyambura Gorge, walking safaris are possible and can be arranged at the small ranger post. The Gorge is home to a variety of primates, including chimpanzees which are often seen on these safaris.
