“To market abroad, facilitate the promotion of trade, tourism, and attracting aid to Uganda,
for social economic development“.

The mandate emphasizes the importance Uganda attaches to commercial diplomacy. The key
functions of the Missions are:

• To ensure the effective and efficient building of Uganda’s image abroad.
• To promote trade, investment and tourism in the mission’s area of accreditation
• To organize trade, tourism and investment fares in liaison with the relevant
  organizations and the line ministries charged with those responsibilities in Uganda.

Structure and Operations:

Uganda has 21 Embassies and High Commissions and one Consulate.

The Foreign Missions and Embassies basically have three (3) officers namely:

• An Ambassador/High Commissioner
• A Consular/1st Secretary
• Investment/Trade Officer
